Is the "breastaurant" franchise really coming to Lubbock? It turns out there's no clear-cut answer right now.

Popular local business website Lubbock in the Loop listed Twin Peaks as set to open now in the Canyon West Shopping Center. But after the tragedy at the Twin Peaks restaurant in Waco, the site's listing for the place was updated with a more skeptical outlook.

Adding to the skepticism is the fact that a Twin Peaks sign could be seen on the northbound access road of Loop 289 between 50th and 34th Street around mid-March. Now, that building is an Exit Realty.

In an effort to find out if Twin Peaks is still opening in Lubbock, we spoke to Justin Nairn, the Director of Asset Management for DeLaVega Development. The group is responsible for the development of the shopping center.

Nairn said that while he couldn't discuss the specifics of the contract at this time, the possibility of Twin Peaks opening a location in Canyon West Shopping Center is still very much up in the air at this time and not "a done deal."

He clarified that if the deal does falls through, it will not be a result of the recent shooting at a Twin Peaks location in Waco. He also said that there is no affiliation other than a franchise name.

Nairn told us that other new stores and restaurant construction are set for Canyon West Shopping Center in the near future. Three franchise businesses and three local business are slated to begin construction there soon.
