The Lakers Metta World Peace (aka Ron Artest) laid out the Thunders James Hardin with one of the cheapest shots I’ve seen in quite some time.

Over the last few years Metta World Peace has partially rehabilitated his reputation in the league after the “Malice in the Palace” brawl in Detroit eight years ago, winning the 2011 NBA Citizenship Award, but the cheap shot he delivered to Hardin has undone that and made him a dirty player once again in my eyes.

During Sunday afternoon’s Lakers home game against Oklahoma City with Los Angeles down three points in the final minutes of the first half World Peace made a nice transition dunk.

In his excitement after the play he turned and bumped into OKC guard Hardin, and as Hardin began to move past him World Peace delivered a hard elbow to the side of Hardin’s head that dropped him instantly to the ground.

World Peace was immediately and rightfully ejected from the game after the play.

Harden was taken to the Thunder locker room immediately, underwent the NBA-mandated concussion tests, and failed to return to the game.

What do you think is an appropriate punishment for Metta World Peace?
