Despite a rough conference slate and finish, Texas Tech Red Raider Softball (40-14, 5-13 Big 12) earned an at-large bid to the NCAA Softball Tournament in Tucson, AZ with host Arizona, New Mexico State, and Harvard. Tech will play New Mexico State Friday at 6 p.m. in opening round action.

Nebraska, Texas, Texas A&M, Baylor, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, and Missouri are among the eight Big 12 teams making the tournament in what was the toughest conference in all of NCAA Division 1. Texas Tech's enters with a porous conference record, but their win total of 40 and playing in the Big 12 enabled them to be selected for the tournament.

Texas Tech lost in the NCAA Opening Round Final last season to Hawai'i in the Palo Alto Regional as they eliminated UC Davis and Stanford.
