Texas Tech Weekend Athletics in Action

The Red Raider Football team opens up Big 12 play this weekend from the road with a Saturday contest against Kansas. That game will get started at 11 a.m. and can be seen nationally on Fox Sports Network. The Texas Tech soccer team hits the road for its first conference road weekend for a matchup with Baylor in Waco Friday with a 7 o’clock start, followed by a Sunday afternoon contest with Oklahoma in Norman, with a 1 o’clock first kick. The Red Raiders are unbeaten in their last five matches and have shut out eight of 11 opponents on the season.

The Texas Tech Women’s soccer team has also announced it will join with the football team in its theme to blackout Texas A&M next weekend. The match against the Aggies is scheduled for Friday October 7^th, with a 7 o’clock first kick from the John Walker Soccer Complex.

The Red Raiders and 25^th ranked Lady Raiders cross country teams will run Friday in the Grass Route Run Festival – Gran Prix in Austin. The Lady Raiders come into the race after two-straight team victories. Tech’s top four runners have placed in the top four of every race so far. The Red Raiders had their best meet of the season at the Texas Tech Open placing second as a team. The Women will run at 7:30 and cover six kilometers, while the men will take the eight kilometer course beginning at 8:15.

The Texas Tech volleyball team will host their second annual Dig for the Cure match Saturday night when the Red Raiders take on the 25^th ranked Oklahoma Sooners from the United Spirit Arena beginning at 6:05.

All Fans wearing pink to the match will be admitted for just a dollar, with the first 500 through the gates receiving pink pom-poms as well.
