Texas Tech starting quarterback Seth Doege garnered Big 12 Co-Offensive Player of the Week honors after setting an NCAA record and leading the Red Raiders to a 59-13 win over New Mexico.

Doege set and NCAA record against the Lobo’s as he completed 40-of-44 passes for 401 yards and five touchdowns. With just the four incompletions, which all came in the endzone, Doege surpassed former Texas Tech quarterback Kliff Kingsbury, who had set the previous NCAA mark by completing 49-if-59 passes at Texas A&M on Oct. 5, 2002.

He started the game at New Mexico with 15 consecutive completions which tied a school record set last season by Taylor Potts in the first half of Tech’s win over Baylor at the Cotton Bowl.  His 401 yards and five touchdowns marked career highs.

Doege shared the Offensive Player of the Week honors with Missouri sophomore tailback Henry Josey. He ran for 263 yards and three touchdowns in only two quarters on play to lead the Tigers ground assault in their 69-0 routing of Western Illinois. Josey is currently No. 1 in the Big 12 and No. 6 nationally in rushing, with 133.33 yards per game

Big 12 Defensive Player of the Week recognition went to Oklahoma sophomore safety Javon Harris. Harris picked off two passed in No.1 Oklahoma’s 23-12 win at No. 5 Florida State. He returned the first one 69 yards to set up a Sooner field goal, then sealed the game with his second one, which came with 5:34 remaining in the game. Harris also had three tackles, all unassisted, and one pass broken up.

Special Teams Player of the Week honors went to defensive back and kick returner Justin Gilbert. Gilbert gave Oklahoma State its first lead of the game in a 59-33 win at Tulsa with a 96-yard kickoff return for a touchdown in the first quarter. It was the third kickoff return for a score by Gilbert in just 15 college games. He also had a 24-yard interception return in the game.
