The All-Star Break And MLB 2015 Mid-Season Awards

The All-Star break officially got underway last night with the most exciting Home Run Derby since Josh Hamilton hit 28. The time constraint injected drama instantly, and so did the buzzer-beater home runs Todd "The Toddfather" Frazier and Albert Pujols provided.

Frazier ended up beating Pederson in the final where he tied it up at the end of the final round before hitting a 15th home run on the first swing of the bonus time.

The All-Star Game will be played tonight starting at 6 p.m. CDT.

Since the All-Star Break is upon us, I've taken a look at the league and come up with some mid-season award winners.

I am not claiming that these mid-season award winners will win the real awards after October. It's obviously impossible to know how the rest of the season will go. One of these players may quit his tobacco habit and turn into the worst player in the world and misread a pop-up because his blue eyes are sensitive to sunlight. That may or may not happen. I am merely giving credit to where credit is due for incredible first half performances.

So, without further ado, here is 1340 The Fan's 2015.5 Mid-Season Awards.

AL MVP - Josh Donaldson

Josh Donaldson has the third most hits, third most runs, fith most home runs and the fourth most runs batted in. He does everything well on offense and is a premier defensive third baseman. He's my 2015.5 AL MVP

NL MVP - Paul Goldschmidt

It is hard to pick against Bryce Harper in the NL MVP race but, Paul Goldschmidt is the league leader in batting average at .340. He's top 5 in runs batted in, runs, walks and hits. He also has a cooler name. Goldschmidt is my 2015.5 NL MVP.

AL Cy Young - Dallas Keuchel

Dallas Keuchel came out of nowhere on a surprising Houston Astros team to claim my 2015.5 AL Cy Young award and a starting role on the AL All-Star squad. He is the league leader in wins, shutouts and innings pitched. He's not an overpowering strike out guy, but he does have one hundred plus before the all-star break.

NL Cy Young - Zach Greinke

When you have been the ace of a staff that features Clayton Kershaw you know you've had a solid season. Greinke features a league leading 1.39 ERA. In virtually every other important stat category you do not have to look too far down to find Greinke's name. He is also starting the All-Star Game tonight. That has to count for something, right?
